Sometimes I Wonder

Today I met a young girl with a broken heart,

Her boyfriend up and left her, tore her world apart.

They love them and they leave them with this sad refrain.

Sometimes I wonder, has anything been really changed?

Today I saw the wings of an eagle go to the embassy,

Then I saw those poor sad ladies, a rerun on TV.

It seemed like '69, a nightmare that didn't rearrange.

Sometimes I wonder, has anything been really changed?

They're preaching from the Good Books,

But they're burning all the bad books.

They're setting up committees to

Tell you the difference between the two.

Oil prices are outrageous and hatred is contagious

That same old funky disco song is ringing in my ear.

So, if you meet a young girl with a broken heart

Be sure to treat her kindly and give her a brand new start.

'Cause she is someone’s sister, someone’s lover or a friend.

Sometimes I wonder will broken hearts ever mend?
