I WAS READING A MUSICAL HISTORY BOOK WHICH MENTIONED MADRIGALS WHICH WERE SUNG BY THE TROUBADOURS ABOUT SAD CULTURAL EVENTS.NO SOONER HAD I READ THAT BUT A POLICEMAN WAS SHOT IN DALLAS, A WEEK BFORE THE REPUBLICAN NATIONAL CONVENTION IN CLEVELAND. THERE HAVE BEEN COUNTLESS EXAMPLES OF LAWLESSNESS SINCE.

THE SONG IS A PLEA MAYBE NAIVE   TO NOT POLARIZE OR DEMONIZE OR OVER GENERALIZE ENTIRE GROUPS OF PEOPLE AND RESORT TO VIOLENCE AND LAWLESSNESS. STILL MY GUITAR GENTLY WEEPS
